Appalachian Studies Association Conference
The 36th Annual Appalachian Studies Association Conference, "Communities in Action, Landscapes in Change," will be hosted by the Center for Appalachian Studies and Appalachian State University March 22-24 in Plemmons Student Union. The conference is an interdisciplinary gathering of scholars, activists, and professionals focusing on the Appalachian mountain region. About 850 people from around the region, the nation, and the world will attend the conference. More than 85 ASU faculty, students, and staff will participate in the conference, which will have about 175 sessions. Dr. William Ferris, director of the National Endowment for the Humanities during the Clinton Administration, will deliver the keynote address Friday, March 22, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Parkway Ballroom Rm 420, Plemmons Student Union. The keynote address is free and open to the public.
